In this seminar, the overall seating process will be reviewed briefly. The child, adult and aged populations will be discussed with regard to skeletal development & deteriation, structural deformities, motor & sensory development & deteriation, skin, and other issues pertinent to seating. The benefits of early, independent mobility will be discussed in the context of neuroplasticity. Ergonomic fit of a manual wheelchair for effective propulsion & reduction of injury will be discussed, as well as, certain frame characteristics. Appropriate application of Freedom Design products will be demonstrated in case studies throughout the seminar. Diagnoses such as, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, arthrogryposis, TBI, CVA, amputation, osteoporosis and arthritis will be addressed.
